Having written a post about struggling with being on some type of financial aid which DPP definitely is the next logical thing was for me to explain what DPP actually is, how it works, and how you can and should get on it.
.
I have already established that being on any kind of financial aid is not the end of the world so with that settled let’s talk about USIU DPP.

The deferred payment plan is pretty self-explanatory I’m afraid. It simply means that you are on contract with the school to pay your fees in three installments instead of one large installment that covers the whole semester’s fee.
.
I am so glad you asked. When you get on the DPP for the first time they will need a bunch of documents from you to make sure that you won’t assume debt then disappear with their money.
.
The best thing about this whole pandemic thing is that everything is now online, you get the DPP document online and upload all the documents by scanning them and formatting them into PDF files. Some of these documents include:
.
This list may not be exhaustive but don’t worry, once you begin the process online they will tell you all the documents you need.
.
I shall make some things clear right now things that I saw a lot of students struggling with. When you are on DPP it’s like you are studying on a short-term loan and as such you are charged a 1.5% interest for the risk the school is assuming letting you study without paying the full amount upfront. As such terms and conditions apply.
.
I know that all that can seem kind of scary but don’t be scared.
.
Remember that the school wants you to be there, they want you to enroll and stay enrolled, they want you to have a great stay in USIU, finish and rave about your experience there as I am now so don’t be scared.
.
If you are a USIU student reading this here is a link https://www.usiu.ac.ke/webapp/defer-payment/ it should take you directly to the DPP page. Once you are there just add your student ID and the rest of the process is automatic.
.
Make sure to deal with your fee issues before the second week of school so you aren’t locked out of the CX and Blackboard.
It might all seem a bit intimidating but don’t be intimidated. Getting on the DPP allows you to study without having to be locked out of school’s online resources and other things that will definitely inconvenience you. To avoid all that please get on DPP.
.
The only thing you have to do to qualify is to pay at least 1/3 of that semester’s fee and have no pending balances from the previous semester. That doesn’t sound so bad, does it?
.
Having been on DPP since my second semester at USIU I shall tell you with full confidence that it made my school life very comfortable.
.
If you are a continuing student at USIU I am sure you remember the incident at the school gate before the pandemic hit, I won’t go into details because I don’t want to make my Alma mater look bad but all that happened because students refused to get on the deferred payment plan [DPP] and had arrears so to ensure there isn’t a repeat performance please do the necessary.
.
This sure turned out to be a lot longer than I had intended but I wanted to make sure I covered all the bases. However, if there is something you find yourself struggling with please contact USIU finance they will definitely help you. In the meantime, take care of yourself! #coronavirus
